A long-lasting signage solution
Also called “wall” signs, cabinet and box signs are a traditional form of illuminated signage that display precise detail and showcase your brand. The options are near endless when it comes to design, color, size, and more.
They are known for being both durable and versatile, and are thus long-lasting.
In order to accurately describe all components of cabinet and box signs, we’re going to use a real-life example: ABC Daycare & Learning Center in Lake St. Louis, MO:

The signage solution is most commonly mounted to an exterior wall, but can also be freestanding via a pole or monument. Although it looks as though ABC Daycare’s cabinet sign is placed on a monument, it is actually freestanding via two poles and then covered with an aluminum skirt.

Cabinet and box signs can be non-lit or internally illuminated, meaning that the lighted element is located behind the sign faces. It’s been our goal at Classic Sign Services to convert all sign lighting to LED, which we did for ABC. The LED sticks span the length of the cabinet and are evenly spaced to provide superior lighting.
(To learn more about LED conversions, check out our blog post on the topic.)

We also provided new graphics that pop, refreshing their previous design. The material for cabinet and box sign faces can range from polycarbonate to acrylic, with a variety of thicknesses. ABC’s cabinet utilizes “flex faces,” a term used in the signage industry to describe flexible translucent (allows light to show through) vinyl.
Benefits of cabinet and box signs
The durability and versatility of cabinet and box signs make them a popular choice for companies and organizations of all kinds. With a wide area for copy and design, creativity is front and center.
They are also a perfect solution for when small fonts and graphics make the usage of channel letters near impossible. Therefore, those that wish to use script or calligraphy style fonts are easily able to do so with cabinet and box signs.
The combination of the lighted elements and sign face material ensures that the cabinet will be clearly seen both during the day and at night.
